Calisto wins the Polish Young Sport Horses Championships, while Optimus Prime impresses at the World Championships
It was an exceptionally successful week for our horses. Calisto won the 4-year-old category at the Polish Young Sport Horses Championships in Olsza, receiving a historic score of 10 in the final competition. At the same time, Optimus Prime delivered an impressive performance at the World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, recording results of 0/4 and 0 in his first two competitions in the 7-year-old category.
Calisto wins the Polish Young Sport Horses Championships
Our horses once again competed at the Polish Young Sport Horses Championships, held annually in Olsza.
This year’s event was particularly special for us, as the 4-year-old category was held for the sixth time as the Wojciech Fabiński Memorial, honouring the founder of our stud.
This year, the category was won decisively by Calisto (Dominator 2000 Z x Carrico), ridden by Mateusz Tyszko.
Calisto produced an outstanding performance throughout the competition, culminating in the final, where he received a score of 10. This was the first score of 10 ever awarded in the history of the competition in this category, making his victory even more remarkable.
Calisto’s success is particularly satisfying in the context of his previous performance at the Polish Young Horses Championships in Strzegom, where he finished 4th in the 4-year-old category.
His performance in Olsza demonstrated how valuable competition experience can be for a young horse. Calisto once again confirmed his considerable sporting ability while showing increasing maturity, confidence and rideability in the arena.
Oleander once again among the top three
Oleander (Ogano x Grand Slam VDL) also delivered another excellent performance. Earlier this year, he won the 4-year-old category at the Polish Young Horses Championships in Strzegom.
In Olsza, Oleander finished 3rd, once again confirming his quality and sporting potential.
We are particularly pleased to see two horses bred by us finish on the podium at one of the most important national competitions for young horses in this age category.
Optimus Prime impresses at the World Championships for Young Horses
At the same time, our horses were also represented on the international stage.
At the World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, Optimus Prime (Glasgow vh Merelsnest x Zambesi) competed in the 7-year-old category under Sophia Westborg.
Optimus Prime is a particularly interesting horse from our breeding perspective. His dam is the granddam of Oleander, who won the 4-year-old category at this year’s Polish Young Horses Championships in Strzegom.
Optimus Prime started his campaign in Lanaken with an excellent 0/4 result in Thursday’s competition. He went one step further the following day, finishing Friday’s competition on 0 faults.
These are outstanding results at the World Championships for Young Horses and another reason to be proud of a horse descending from a family with such strong sporting credentials.
Young horse success – breeding and sport
The results achieved by Calisto, Oleander and Optimus Prime are particularly important to us because they demonstrate the potential of horses bred by us on both the national and international stage.
Calisto won the Polish Young Sport Horses Championships, Oleander once again finished on the podium, and Optimus Prime recorded excellent results at the World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken.
Each of these horses is following their own individual path, but their performances are an important confirmation of the consistency of our breeding programme and the work involved in preparing young horses for sport.
