Nad Wigrami Sports Centre and Club

A place where breeding begins with relationships
We build our stud on trust, calm and consistency. Every decision comes from experience and respect for horses and the surrounding nature.
Nad Wigrami is a place where horses grow up in harmony with nature

Our horses are born and spend the first years of their lives in an exceptional place, a land of vast pastures located around Lake Wigry, in the Czarna Hańcza valley and on the edge of the Augustów Forest.
A natural environment that shapes a horse’s character from its earliest years.
This is an environment where nature sets the rhythm of everyday life, and peace and space are something natural. The horses have around 200 hectares of land at their disposal, partly located within Wigry National Park and its buffer zone. It is one of the cleanest and most beautiful corners of Poland, a place where both people and horses live in harmony with the surrounding nature. We combine traditional methods of care with daily, direct contact with the horses. This way of working allows us to build relationships based on trust and calm. As a result, our horses are balanced, friendly and self-confident, and this aspect has always been one of the foundations of our breeding program.

Space, silence and landscape that influence the way horses grow up and their character from the very first day.
Vast pastures, natural landscapes and infrastructure integrated into the surrounding environment create a space where horses grow up in calm and balance. It is here, at Nad Wigrami, that daily breeding life unfolds in harmony with nature, and the place itself becomes the foundation of the quality visible at every stage of the horses’ development.

1999

The beginning of the journey

Nad Wigrami Stud was founded in 1999. The breeding program was taken over by Hubert Szaszkiewicz. At first it was a hobby project based on a modest stable facility in Czerwony Krzyż, with 21 boxes and an exercise area for young horses.

2004

The first success

The year 2004 brought a breakthrough. Horses born at Nad Wigrami made their debut in the Polish Young Horse Championships and achieved unexpected success. The mare Tinta (Elvis / Tina / Tin Rocco) won the Polish Champion title among 4-year-old horses, opening a new chapter in the stud’s history.

2004–2008

Confirmation of potential

The following years brought numerous medals in the Polish Young Horse Championships across all age categories. Despite these successes, the breeding program retained its intimate character, built on quality rather than scale.

2008

Professionalization

In 2008, the decision was made to fully professionalize the stud. Marek Orłoś became the stud manager, and Daan Nanning joined as breeding advisor. The breeding stock was thoroughly reselected, new goals were defined and the target scale of the breeding program was set at 40 broodmares.

2008–2015

Building the foundations

This period was marked by intensive work on the development of the mare herd, infrastructure and breeding methods. The effects quickly became visible in the quality of the offspring produced.

Since 2016

New possibilities

In 2016, thanks to cooperation with Dr Aleksandra Jagusiak, an embryo transfer centre was opened in Mikołajewo. In the following years, with the involvement of Aleksandra Jagusiak and Izabela Laszczyńska, the centre became one of the leading embryo transfer centres in Poland, bringing new quality and opportunities to the stud’s breeding work.

2019

New leadership

After a successful edition of the Polish Young Horse Championships, the founder of the stud, Mr Wojciech Fabiński, passed away, and leadership was taken over by his daughter-in-law Anne Fabińska. Particular emphasis was placed on development adapted to the changing sport and on the international reach of horses bred at the stud. The horses are entrusted to the best Polish riders working with young horses.

2021

The first sporting success in the new era

The first sporting success in the Polish Young Horse Championships under the stud’s new leadership was achieved by the 4-year-old stallion Diego (Grandorado / Feu d’Hiver / Diamant de Semilly).

2022 – today

Regular results and Lanaken

Since then, our horses have been achieving regular success in the Polish Young Horse Championships and in the Young Sport Horses Championships. Every year they also compete in the World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, and in the 2023 season the stallion Diego reached the top final.

2025 – the future

A plan for the years ahead

We focus on strict selection and verification of breeding lines in order to produce ever better sport horses. We want to see our horses ridden by better and better riders, and we continue the founder’s vision: to see a horse bred at Nad Wigrami at the Olympic Games. Already today, a horse bred at Nad Wigrami, Dżoker (Harley VDL / Dżinger xx / Grand Presidium xx), is ridden by multiple Olympic champion Michael Jung.
Experience, nature and conscious selection in the heart of Suwalszczyzna, built on respect for horses and breeding values.
