Polish Young Horses Championships in Strzegom – successes for our horses
Our horses once again delivered outstanding results at the Polish Young Horses Championships in Strzegom, an important event that provides a valuable opportunity to assess the results of our breeding programme and the development of our young sport horses.
The competition brought together some of the best young horses bred in Poland, as well as horses born abroad. We are particularly proud that our horses once again performed at the highest level, achieving excellent results across several age categories. This year, our results included one victory, two third-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes.
4-year-old horses – victory for Oleander
The biggest success in the 4-year-old category came from Oleander, who won the Polish Young Horses Championship.
Oleander comes from a family with very well-documented sport performance. His granddam, Olza (Zambesi x Ol Metta), successfully competed at 1.40 m level before being sold abroad. Oleander’s dam, Olandia (Grand Slam VDL x Zambesi), also enjoyed a successful sport career, competing up to 1.20 m.
Oleander himself is an exceptional young horse with outstanding potential. He was prepared for the championships by Mateusz Tyszko, and his performance in Strzegom was particularly impressive. With his result at this year’s championships, Oleander broke the record set in 2012 by the exceptional stallion Nevados S (Calvados Z x Romualdo). This achievement gives us even more reason to look forward to Oleander’s future and follow the development of his sporting career with great optimism.
Liago – third place among the 4-year-olds
Liago (Nevados S x Livello) finished third in the 4-year-old category.
Liago was sold at the Cavaliada auction last year, and we are delighted that he found such wonderful owners in the Gardulski family. For the Polish Young Horses Championships, they entrusted Liago’s training and preparation to Daria Kobiernik. Liago was presented in truly impressive style. In Saturday’s final, he achieved the best result of the entire field, demonstrating both his quality and his considerable sporting potential. We are extremely pleased to see a horse bred by us continue his career with such dedicated owners and riders.
Calisto – fourth place
Calisto (Dominator 2000 Z x Carrico) finished fourth in the 4-year-old category.
This talented stallion showed exceptional jumping ability throughout the competition. On the first day, however, the atmosphere and emotions of the event affected his rideability to some extent, which ultimately had an impact on his final result. Nevertheless, this does not change our strong belief in Calisto’s quality and potential. As he gains more experience and confidence in competition, we expect his rideability to continue improving. We are therefore looking at his further development with great confidence and are excited to see what the future holds for him.
5-year-old horses – Corland on the podium
Corland (Emerald van't Ruytershof x Spartacus) finished third in the 5-year-old category, ridden by Cezary Kalinowski.
Corland is a very special young horse who combines considerable sporting ability with an excellent attitude towards work – and, particularly importantly, towards competition. His dam, Cordoba (Spartacus x Coriano Z), successfully competed in Longines Ranking classes up to 1.50 m. We will be following Corland’s further development with great interest. With more experience and time, we believe he has every opportunity to continue progressing and establish himself as a very promising sport horse.
7-year-old horses – Casanova finishes fourth
In the oldest age category, another son of Carrara (Carrico x Balou du Rouet) performed very well. Casanova (by Grandorado) was once again ridden by Mateusz Tyszko. Unfortunately, one unlucky rail prevented Casanova from remaining in contention for a medal. Thanks to his excellent time, however, he ultimately finished fourth in the 7-year-old category. Although the result left us just outside the medals, Casanova once again demonstrated his quality and competitive potential. We are looking forward to following his continued development and future performances.
Our results at the Polish Young Horses Championships
Our horses achieved excellent results across three age categories in Strzegom:
Oleander – 1st place, 4-year-old horses
Liago – 3rd place, 4-year-old horses
Calisto – 4th place, 4-year-old horses
Corland – 3rd place, 5-year-old horses
Casanova – 4th place, 7-year-old horses
For us, these results are important not only because of the individual achievements of the horses, but also because they demonstrate the consistency of our breeding programme and the development of our young sport horses.
Having several horses competing at the very top of their respective age categories is a strong motivation to continue developing our breeding programme and investing in the next generation of young jumping horses.
What’s Next? The Polish Young Sport Horses Championships
The plan for all of our young horses is, of course, to continue towards the Polish Young Sport Horses Championships, where we hope to present an even larger group of our horses. Even during the championships in Strzegom, our horses attracted considerable interest from riders and trainers. We are therefore looking forward to the coming weeks with great curiosity and excitement.
For young horses, every competition is another opportunity to gain experience, develop confidence and show their potential. We are excited to see how our horses continue to progress as their careers develop.
Behind every success is a dedicated Team
Behind all of these achievements stands, above all, the hard work and commitment of many people.
The development of a successful young sport horse is never the result of one person’s work. It is a long-term process involving our team at the stud, the riders and trainers working with our horses, as well as the many specialists who support their everyday development. Our farrier, veterinary team, grooms, riders and trainers at our sport stable all play an important role in preparing our young horses for the next stages of their careers. The process begins with the first days under saddle and continues through training, competition and, eventually, their partnership with riders competing with them at the highest levels of young horse sport.
We are extremely grateful to every person who contributes to the development of our horses. We believe that it is the combination of experience, teamwork, consistency and daily dedication that allows young horses to fulfil their potential and gives them the best possible foundation for a successful sporting career.
